Query, update, and transact with Kinetic ERP – all from Excel, securely and at speed
Kinetic Dataflow Tool (KDT) is designed to make complex data easier to understand, manage and put into action.
By bringing data flows into a clear, structured environment, KDT helps users see how information moves between sources, systems and outputs, providing greater visibility across the entire process.
The result is a more intuitive way to build, monitor and optimise data workflows — turning complexity into something practical, transparent and manageable.

Multi instance connections
KDT lets you connect to multiple Kinetic ERP instances from within a single Excel workbook. Whether you’re comparing data across production and test environments, or pulling information from several company databases at once, there’s no need to juggle separate spreadsheets or reopen Excel between connections — everything lives in one place.
Supports Cloud & On-Premise
No matter how your organisation deploys Kinetic, KDT works with it. The plugin supports both cloud-hosted and on-premise Kinetic instances, so businesses at any stage of their ERP journey — whether fully on-prem, mid-migration, or cloud-native — can take full advantage of the tool without limitation.
Flexible authentication methods
KDT is built to fit your existing security infrastructure, supporting Basic authentication, Identity Provider (IDP) login, and API Key access. This flexibility means IT teams can enforce the authentication method that best matches their organisation’s policies, without compromising on convenience for end users.
Respects user security
Security doesn’t stop at login. KDT honours the menu access permissions and optionally API scopes configured within Kinetic, ensuring users only ever see and interact with the data and functions they’re authorised for. There’s no need to duplicate or manage a separate permissions model, your existing Kinetic security setup carries straight through.
Data Retrieval by Table or BAQ
Pull Kinetic ERP data directly into Excel by specifying menu item and table name or via a Business Activity Query (BAQ). This gives users the flexibility to work with the query method that best suits their needs, whether that’s the simplicity of a single data table or the power of pre-built BAQs, all without leaving the spreadsheet.
Queries to Update Templates
Turn any query result into a ready-to-use update template with a single step. This dramatically speeds up the process of preparing bulk data changes, letting users go from “here’s the data I pulled” to “here’s the data I’m ready to push back” in a fraction of the time it would normally take.
Update or Delete
Beyond just reading data, KDT gives users the power to update or delete records directly within Kinetic ERP following the business logic. This turns Excel into a genuine two-way interface with your ERP system, enabling fast, familiar, spreadsheet-based data maintenance.
Simplified Error Handling
We all know that updates and deletes can sometimes generate errors. Rather than leaving you to hunt through failed rows, KDT flags the specific error message directly against the offending row within the worksheet. Simply correct the record, filter the sheet to the flagged rows, and reprocess — no need to reprocess a separate file.
Template Builder
Not every update starts with a query. KDT allows users to build an update template directly from a chosen menu item and table, skipping the query step entirely. This makes simple, targeted updates faster and more accessible, even for users who aren’t comfortable writing queries.
Multiple Queries & Updates per Workbook
A single KDT workbook can house multiple queries and updates side by side. Teams can consolidate what would otherwise be a sprawl of separate files into one organised, easy-to-navigate workbook, streamlining both day-to-day use and long-term maintenance.
Transactional Updates
KDT supports true transactional updates, including quantity and cost adjustments and inventory transfers. These aren’t simple field edits — they’re proper ERP transactions, processed correctly and safely through the Kinetic business logic, giving users confidence that transactions are handled the right way.
Shareable, Multi-User Workbooks
KDT workbooks can be shared and edited by multiple users, making collaborative data management simple. Individual user authentication is still required for every session, so full accountability and security are maintained even as the workbook itself is shared across a team.
Version-Agnostic by Design
KDT reads Kinetic’s own update methods dynamically, meaning it isn’t tied to a specific Kinetic software version. As your Kinetic environment is upgraded over time, KDT adapts automatically, no plugin updates or compatibility headaches required.
Excel Desktop & Excel Online
Whatever your preferred way of working, KDT keeps up. The plugin functions seamlessly across both Excel desktop and Excel Online, giving users the freedom to work from a traditional installed software or straight from the browser.
Batch-Optimised Performance
Behind the scenes, KDT processes updates in optimised batches to maximise speed. This means even large-scale data changes — updating hundreds or thousands of records — complete quickly and efficiently, without the performance drag of processing records one at a time.
